I remember feeling so uncomfortable with those scenes while everyone else was busy praising the writing. It felt like the creators used shock value to distract from certain plot holes. Your point about the lack of realism regarding disease makes total sense. Moving away from that era of television is definitely for the best.

I must be one of 10 people on this planet who never bothered to watch that popular show.
I abhor violence in any form and especially the gratuitous, sexual violence we see in movies. What makes it egregious is that it normalizes sexual violence against women in every day life and trivializes the trauma left behind.
Thank you for your honest review as it saddens me that women continue to be objectified for entertainment in so many arenas. This post is such a trigger for me. You nailed the problematic issues.

This was such a great read! I never jumped on the bandwagon and watched this show, and I sometimes feel like I’m the only one on the planet who has never seen it!!

I haven’t watched Game Of Thrones but my kids have and they enjoyed it. Maybe I’ll watch to see why all the hype especially after reading your post. I have some time on my hand maybe this week I’ll start.

To be honest, I have not seen this movie nor have I read the book. I just think from what I hear and read that it is a very intense show. But I have also heard that it is a good one so long as you can skip some of the violence and sexual scenes in it. That’s hard to do in my opinion, though, because it is part of the story. Perhaps this year is the year I will finally watch it or read the book???? The jury is still out on this…

Game of Thrones is one of my favorite shows, even though it definitely DOES NOT do women justice at all. They could have done better with that.
