This is what we call low-maintenance friends! We are confident that the friendship exists even if we don’t talk for a long time. I am lucky to have friends like this. Most of them are already abroad, but the distance does not bother us at all. Blessed to find this type of unconditional love.

The part about meeting with friends for thirty years is so special — that kind of steady love and loyalty is rare. I really love how you broke it down into things like forgiveness, empathy, and giving each other space… it makes me think about the friends in my own life who have stuck by me through ups and downs.

It’s important for us all to try to find and nurture friendships like these. They are ones that will see us through our lives and help us be happier. I have a very select group of friends whom I wish I saw more but life and work tend to get in the way. Luckily we try to do meet ups as often as possible.

Communication ranks high for me when it comes to friends or really any relationship. I feel that any storm can be weathered when both parties can articulate feelings and discuss them. But I also know that support is as well. Now that I am further away from friends I have made in the past, it really requires a lot of support from both ends to make our relationship last years longer.
