Huff Estates Winery & Inn

Huff Estates Winery & Inn

Huff Estates Winery  & Inn is a state-of-the-art facility that has everything to maximize your experience in Prince Edward County. No other winery offers this unique experience in the County.

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY

Prince Edward County (PEC) is located 220 km east of Toronto. It is just south of Belleville. The ground is atypical with many valleys, and the foundation is limestone. The cracked limestone base and the stony soils allow bilge in the spring, take in all the water, which allows the vines to go deep in the Indian summer, and yields a flavor that is potent, rich, full-bodied, and robust. The breeze from Lake Ontario gives maximum benefit to the vineyards of PEC.

As you exit the 401 and go south towards PEC, it is an amazing escape from the boring monotony of the 401. You are transformed into the countryside lined with unique vineyards in a succulent canvas of agrarian serenity.

Welcome to my series on vineyards in PEC. Before you head out to a vineyard please read this guide on how to enjoy your trip. In this series, I will cover the following vineyards: Harwood, Casa-Dea, Rosehall Run, Norman Hardie, By Chadsey’s Cairns, Black Prince, Waupoos, and Kent-he.

Huff Estates Winery

Huff Estate Winery was established in 2004. The main goal was to produce the best wines. Lanny and Catherine Huff were born and raised in the County. They have taken their passion for wine and have created a masterpiece consisting of a winery, restaurant, inn, and a oeno gallery.

Frederic Picard the winemaker originally from Burgundy and graduated with a degree in winemaking from Lycee of Beaune. He has worked in Niagara, California, Chile, South Africa, Italy, and France.

Wine tasting is a flight of 3 wines for $8 or a single taste for $3. The County Lifestyle Series, Hand Crafted Series, and Heritage Series are three choices.

wine list

I go for the County Lifestyle Series and try the Riesling, Vidal, and Rose. As you sit tasting the wines with the vineyard right in front of you, you feel the connection to the grape and the wine you are tasting.

My favorite is the Vacay Vidal. It is the party wine for any spicy food.

  • Amazing experience! My brother love visiting wineries, he would love this one. I’ll share the post with him (maybe I can both go with the family!)

  • This looks like such a magical place to getaway for a weekend! While I would love to go with my partner, I feel like it would also be the perfect spot for a girls’ weekend getaway, too. I guess I have to plan two trips here!

  • I love going wine tasting! This place looks beautiful and especially like that there is an art gallery as well. Thanks for sharing.

  • This looks like a trip for me. I love me some wine, and an excuse to have it, I am all about. Wineries are so nice and a great way to spend the day. We have many near me, and I can’t wait until the warmer weather to partake. Cheers!

  • Such a beautiful and amazing place to visit and explore in all good things to experience regarding in winery business.

  • Huff Winery sounds fantastic! Not only for the ambiance and food, but also for their inn as well as their gallery. For me personally, I love wineries that offer more than just wine because it truly adds to the experience.

  • WOW, I bet this was an amazing experience. This looks like such a beautiful place to visit. The vineyards and countryside in Prince Edward County sound absolutely stunning, and I love that Huff Estates offers both wine tasting and a relaxing inn experience. The Vacay Vidal sounds like a great choice, especially with spicy food. Thanks for sharing such a lovely guide to the winery!

  • It’s ben over a decade since we have visited a winery. I’d love to go to one in the near future. They always seem to have the most amazing grounds. Even better when they cater events.

  • How convenient to have an Inn alongside the winery. I bet it is a super popular place for many to visit each year. I would really love to go to a winery and discover some tasty new wines for drinking and also using in foods. I would definitely be opting for the flight of 3 wines, that sounds like a reasonable enough offer. I’d probably drag the husband along who drinks far more wine than me, he’ would really love it there!!! I see it becoming a yearly event.

  • What an interesting place to visit. Love that they have a variety of attractive offers, a beautiful vineyard view, art in the indoor and outdoor galleries, rooms with a fireplace, plus a private garden patio? Yes please! This would make for the perfect mini-getaway vacation. On days when we want to escape the city’s noise and buzz, wine-tasting over wood-fired pizza is a great idea for a team-building day. Great location.

  • I haven’t been to a winery in quite some time. This looks like a lovely place to visit. It is nice that they have so much to offer here. I would definitely enjoy some of their wood fired pizza.

  • That limestone foundation makes for such a distinct flavor profile in those wines. I usually hate the drive on the four hundred and one so finding this agrarian escape is a relief. The rose is calling my name.

  • Thank you for sharing this experience! Huff Estates Winery & Inn sounds like a truly special place, where the wine, scenery, and hospitality come together beautifully. I can almost feel the warmth and charm through your description, definitely a visit to savor and remember.

  • This is timely! We’re actually visiting our cousins in PEC in June, and we’d love to add a trip to the Huff Estates to our itinerary. I agree with you that tasting the wines with the vineyard is a wonderful experience. Will take your advice to try the Country Lifestyle Series.

  • Vacay Vidal being the pick for spicy food is the kind of detail I remember way more than a general tasting note. Also the wood-fired pizza on the patio overlooking the vineyard sounds like the obvious move after a tasting.

  • Back in the days when I lived in California, I used to go on wine tasting tours, at the different wine country estates with local friends. They were fun outings, and we would spend an entire day or two enjoying the offerings washed down with a gourmet meal or a curated tray of appetizers. This sounds like a lot of fun for a relatively low price. The memberships could be a nice gift for wine-drinking friends.
