Skylon Tower Summit Suite Lunch in Niagara Falls

Skylon Tower Summit Suite Lunch in Niagara Falls

Our Skylon Tower Summit Suite lunch in Niagara Falls was a wonderful way to combine a family celebration with good food and spectacular views.

We were visiting to celebrate my nephew’s graduation, making the experience even more meaningful. Looking out at the magnificent landscape from high above the Falls gave us a fresh appreciation for one of Canada’s most famous destinations.

To celebrate, we chose the Skylon Tower Summit Suite lunch buffet, where we could enjoy good food, spectacular scenery and time together as a family. It was a wonderful setting to recognize an important milestone.

Niagara Falls is always a wonderful destination, whether you are visiting for the first time or returning after many visits. There is something about the combination of natural beauty, lively attractions, and the energy of the city that makes it an enjoyable place to spend a day. Adding lunch high above the Falls gave us another reason to appreciate this remarkable destination.

Skylon Tower: A Niagara Falls Landmark

You cannot talk about dining at the Summit Suite without first appreciating the building that houses it. Skylon Tower has been part of the Niagara Falls skyline for more than six decades and remains one of the area’s most recognizable landmarks.

Construction began in May 1964, and the tower officially opened to the public on October 6, 1965. At the time, it was an ambitious engineering project and an impressive addition to the Niagara Falls landscape.

The tower stands approximately 520 feet above ground level and reaches 775 feet above the base of the Falls. One of its most distinctive features is the exterior glass-enclosed elevators, often called the Yellow Bug elevators. The ride to the top is part of the experience, giving visitors an opportunity to take in the surrounding scenery as they ascend.

Skylon Tower is home to two dining experiences: the Revolving Dining Room and the Summit Suite Buffet. While the Revolving Dining Room slowly rotates to provide changing panoramic views, the Summit Suite offers a more relaxed buffet-style dining experience.

Lunch at the Skylon Tower Summit Suite Buffet

Our choice for the family celebration was the Summit Suite Buffet. Located high above the Falls, the restaurant combines a comfortable dining atmosphere with one of the most recognizable views in Canada.

The buffet offers a selection of hot and cold dishes, giving guests plenty of choices. The cold selections include a variety of salads, such as mixed greens, beet salad, seafood salad, couscous, coleslaw and pasta salads. There are also cold meats, poached salmon, assorted rolls and savory dips.

For those who prefer something warm, the buffet features selections such as roast top sirloin, fish, honey garlic chicken, meatballs, vegetable samosas, pasta, rice pilaf, roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Familiar favorites such as chicken fingers and fries are also available, making it a suitable dining option for families with different tastes.

I always enjoy a buffet that offers variety, as there is an opportunity to try different dishes and choose what appeals to you. The food was good and tasty, and there was a nice selection to choose from. Whether you prefer a lighter plate with salads or something more substantial, there is something to suit different appetites.

Of course, no buffet experience would be complete without dessert. The dessert selection includes specialty cakes, pies, individual pastries, tarts, fresh fruit and gourmet cheeses, along with coffee or tea. It is a lovely way to finish a leisurely lunch, particularly when you have time to sit back and enjoy the surroundings.

The restaurant’s warm interior, with its wood paneling and elegant accents, provides a comfortable setting for a relaxed meal. It is a nice option for families, visitors and anyone looking to combine dining with a memorable Niagara Falls experience.

Niagara Falls: More Than a Tourist Destination

One of the biggest attractions of dining at Skylon Tower is undoubtedly its location. Niagara Falls is one of Canada’s most celebrated natural wonders, attracting visitors from around the world.

The Niagara River connects Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, flowing over the famous waterfalls along the Canada-US border. The three waterfalls are the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls.

The Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side, are particularly impressive because of their immense size and the volume of water cascading over the edge. The constant movement of the water, the mist rising into the air and the sound of the Falls create an experience that is difficult to capture in photographs alone.

Niagara Falls has also played an important role in Canadian tourism for generations. Beyond the waterfalls themselves, the area offers attractions, parks, gardens, restaurants, entertainment and opportunities to explore the surrounding Niagara region.

Whether you enjoy sightseeing, history, food or simply spending time with family, there is always something to discover. It is one of those destinations that offers something for visitors of all ages.

Celebrating Family and Making Memories

What made this visit especially meaningful was the reason behind it. My nephew’s graduation was an important milestone, and having the opportunity to celebrate together made the outing more than just a lunch reservation.

As families grow older, our schedules become busier, and finding opportunities to spend time together becomes increasingly important. Celebrations give us a reason to pause, acknowledge someone’s achievements and enjoy each other’s company.

A special meal, an interesting destination and time together can turn an ordinary day into a memory worth keeping.

Niagara Falls provided the perfect setting for this occasion. Skylon Tower added something distinctive to the experience, combining dining, history and spectacular scenery in one location.

Is the Summit Suite Buffet Worth Visiting?

If you are planning a visit to Niagara Falls and looking for a dining experience that offers more than just a meal, the Summit Suite Buffet is worth considering.

Its appeal lies in the combination of a varied buffet, good food, a relaxed atmosphere and its remarkable location above the Falls. It is particularly appealing for families and visitors who want to enjoy a meal while experiencing one of Niagara Falls’ best-known attractions.

Another benefit is that dining guests receive complimentary access to the indoor and outdoor observation decks, allowing visitors to extend their visit beyond the restaurant and enjoy the views from different vantage points.

The Summit Suite Buffet generally operates seasonally, from May through October, although dates and arrangements can change. Checking the Skylon Tower website before planning your visit is always a good idea.

For us, it was a lovely way to celebrate a family achievement. The food, the setting and the opportunity to enjoy lunch together made the outing memorable.

Sometimes the best travel memories are not necessarily about going somewhere far away. They are about taking the time to celebrate the people who matter, discovering familiar places from a different perspective and enjoying the moments along the way.

Our Skylon Tower Summit Suite lunch was a wonderful way to celebrate a family milestone while enjoying one of Niagara Falls’ most recognizable landmarks. And what better place to do that than high above the beautiful Niagara Falls?

The Skylon Tower Summit Suite lunch is an experience I would recommend to anyone looking to combine good food with a memorable Niagara Falls visit.
