The Empty Spaces Project

Sophie Deutsch is a journalist from Sydney, Australia. She asked people from around the world to share a 200-word reflection in response to the question: What insight are you attaining or re-learning about yourself, your community, your country, or the world during COVID-19? She posted the responses on Instagram. All these contributions will be shared on a Facebook page, and then a blog, and possibly a book down the line. I was chosen from Canada.

Sophie featured each contribution with a photo that is normally alive and bustling but due to social distancing has been rendered empty, still and silent – the idea being that we are filling the emptiness with reflections that are guiding us through these uncertain times, and these insights may also help to pave a way forward in the post-coronavirus world.
